    References

The original prediction of this event was in the 1987 paper, Occultations of SAO Stars and IRAS Point Sources by Planets: 1988-1999, by Douglas J. Mink, presented as a poster talk at the 1987 meeting of the Division for Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society in Pasadena, California. The abstract is in the Bulletin of the American Astronomical Society volume 19, page 1150 (1987). This event can be found in tables of Occultations of SAO Stars by Saturn at this Web site.

To see the importance of this event in perspective, check out 100 Years of Occultations: A Statistical View by Douglas J. Mink, presented at the 1995 meeting of the Division on Dynamical Astronomy of the American Astronomical Society in Yosemite National Park, in April 1995. For that presentation, occultations of PPM stars by Saturn 1950-2050 were tabulated and plotted.
