SKYMAP Command Line Options

The following options may be set on the command line. The names of the parameters which are changed are in parentheses.

Map parameters

hh:mm:ss.ss dd:mm:ss.ss [J2000 or B1950]
Use this position as the map center. At least one colon needs to be present in the right ascension. Both positions must be present if one is, but the equinox, J2000 or B1950, may be ommitted to use one explicitly set on the command line or already set. (CRA CDEC MAPCOOR)
-fit filename
-imh filename
Make map region match the image position and area as derived from FITS or IRAF world coordinate system information found in the header of filename. (Added in version 3.5)
-cra num
Set center right ascension for search in hours, minutes, and seconds, formatted as hh.mmssss. (CRA)
-cdec num
Set center declination in degrees, minutes, and seconds, formatted as dd.mmssss. (CDEC)
-box num
Sets map half-width in degrees, minutes, and seconds, formatted as dd.mmssss; RA half-width will be box/cos(dec). If greater than zero, this value overrides -dra and -ddec. (DBOX)
-dra num
Set right ascension half-width for map in hours, minutes, and seconds, formatted as hh.mmssss. (DRA)
-ddec num
Sets declination half-width in degrees, minutes, and seconds, formatted as dd.mmssss. (DDEC)
-ait [-gno -lam -lin -mer]
Map in Aitoff (allsky), gnomonic (plane-tangent), Lambert cyclindrical, linear, or Mercator projection. (MAPPROJ)
-j [-b -gal -ecl]
Map in J2000, B1950, galactic, or ecliptic coordinates (catalogs are converted appropriately) (MAPCOOR)
-o
Set output filename. If "-", no file is written. (OUTFILE)
-stop
Stop processing of command line and exit from program after setting any parameters changed on the command line.

Primary Catalog

-dcat [-ndcat]
Display (do not display) primary star catalog. (DISPCAT)
-cat filename
Primary star catalog filename. (CFNAME)
-cdir pathname
Primary star catalog directory pathname. (CFDIR)
-cbin [-casc]
Primary star catalog in binary or ASCII format. (CBIN)
-cmax num
Set primaary catalog bright magnitude limit. (STARMAX)
-cmin num
Set primary catalog faint magnitude limit. (STARMIN)

Secondary Catalog

-dbcat [-ndbcat]
Display (do not display) secondary star catalog. (DISPBCAT)
-bcat filename
Secondary star catalog filename. (FFNAME)
-bdir pathname
Secondary star catalog directory pathname. (FFDIR)
-bbin [-casc]
Secondary star catalog in binary or ASCII format. (FBIN)
-bmax num
Set secondary catalog bright magnitude limit. (FMAX)
-bmin num
Set secondary catalog faint magnitude limit. (FMIN)

Guide Star Catalog

-dgsc [-ndgsc]
Display (do not display) Guide Star Catalog. (DISPGSC)
-gmax num
Set Guide Star Catalog bright magnitude limit. (GSCMAX)
-gmin num
Set Guide Star Catalog faint magnitude limit. (GSCMIN)
-gclass num
Only display Guide Stars of this object class. (GSCCLASS)
-star (-nstar) (-all)
Keep only stars, only nonstellar objects, or everything. (GSCCLASS=0,3,-1)
-bp (-nbp)
Output plate bandpass(es) for each star. (PBAND=t,f)
-gbp number [-nbp]
Select plates with this bandpass code only (or turn off selection. (GSCBAND).
-1: all 10: IIa-D/GG495(ESO-GPO-V)
 0: IIIa-J/GG395(SERC-J) 11: 103a-O/GG400(BlackBirch-B)
 1: IIa-D/W12(Palomar-V1) 16: IIIa-J/GG495(Palomar-V5)
 6: IIa-D/GG495(Palomar-V4) 18: IIIa-J/GG385(Palomar-J)
 8: 103a-E/Red(Palomar-E)
-v (-nv)
Turn verbose mode on or off. Command line parameter changes will be echoed if this is on, as well as additional progress logging. This is useful if the program is apparently misbehaving. (VERBOSE=t,f)
