sua2
USNO-A2.0 Catalog Search Program

WCSTools programs
sua2 finds objects in the U.S. Naval Observatory A-2.0 Catalog within a specified region of the sky and lists their sky positions or lists specific entries in that catalog. It is a symbolic link to scat, and is equivalent to running scat -c ua2 ....

By default, only the brightest 100 objects (or closest 100, if the -s p option is used) are returned. Use the -n option to increase this number.

Output is to standard out, unless the -w flag is set, in which case it goes to objectname.uac or search.uac. It is somewhat similar to RGSC, which can search from lists of coordinates but cannot sort the output. The UA2 number is the zone ((90 + declination in degrees) * 10) followed by the sequence number of the star within the RA-sorted zone. This number will change with each release of the USNO A catalog.

Set the environment variable UA2_PATH to the directory containing the region files or UA2_ROOT to the directory below which the CDROMs (ua001, ua002,...ua011) are mounted. If neither environment variable is set, the default is to look in the directory /data/ua2, where the catalog resides at the Center for Astrophysics. The default is the value of the variable ua2path in the source code file libwcs/uacread.c.
