EMSAO Example 1 Report

The output report, which is written to the files specified by the logfiles parameter, may be formatted according to the value of the parameter report_mode to the formats 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9,

Report Mode 1

This mode includes all of the information which is on the graphical summary page. After a heading with the name of the program, the version, the user and machine running emsao, and the local time and date it is being run, there is a multi-line entry for each spectrum for which a velocity is being sought.

Report Mode 2

One line per spectrum, including:
  • first 32 characters of the spectrum filename,
  • instrument name,
  • object name,
  • Julian Date of the observation,
  • emission line velocity and error in km/sec,
  • cross-correlation velocity, error, and R-value,
  • combined velocity and error,
  • single-character quality flag
  • number of lines found and number of lines fit.
    On the same line, the lines found are listed using the names in the file specified by the parameter emlines.

    One line per spectrum, including:
  • first 32 characters of the spectrum filename,
  • instrument name,
  • object name,
  • Julian Date of the observation,
  • emission line velocity and error in km/sec,
  • cross-correlation velocity, error, and R-value,
  • combined velocity and error,
  • single-character quality flag
  • number of lines found and number of lines fit.
    On the same line, the redshift velocity in km/sec is given for each reference line in the file specified by the parameter emlines. It is set to 0 for lines which are not found.

    One line per spectrum, including:
  • first 32 characters of the spectrum filename,
  • instrument name from INSTRUME header keyword,
  • object name,
  • right ascension and declination of the observation,
  • computed altitude and azimuth of the observation,
  • Julian Date of the observation
  • emission line velocity and error in km/sec
  • cross-correlation velocity for the template specified by the parameter cortemp with its error and R-value
  • combined velocity and error
  • single-character quality flag
  • number of lines found and number of lines fit
    On the same line, the following information is given for each reference line in the file specified by the parameter emlines:
  • line center velocity from Gaussian fit (0 if not found)
  • line velocity error (0 if not found)
  • line height from Gaussian fit (0 if not found)
  • line width from Gaussian fit (0 if not found)
  • line equivalent width or area (0 if not found)
  • line equivalent width or area error (0 if not found) (added in report mode 7)

    One line per spectrum, including:
  • first 32 characters of the spectrum filename,
  • instrument name,
  • object name,
  • right ascension,
  • declination,
  • azimuth,
  • altitude,
  • Julian Date of the observation,
  • exposure time in seconds,
  • number of lines found
  • number of lines fit.
    On the same line, the following are given for each emission line found:
  • rest wavelength in Angstroms of line from linelist
  • shift in wavelength (obs-ref) in Angstroms of line
  • error in line center in angstroms from Gaussian fit
  • height of line in counts from Gaussian fit
  • width of line in Angstroms from Gaussian fit
  • equivalent width of line
  • Report Mode 9

    One line per spectrum, including:
  • first 32 characters of the spectrum filename,
  • instrument name,
  • object name,
  • Julian Date of the observation,
  • emission line velocity and error in km/sec,
  • cross-correlation velocity for the template specified by the parameter cortemp with its error and R-value,
