Predictions for Specific Locations

Graphical predictions have been prepared for several observatories:
Apache Point (NM) Observatory
Kitt Peak (AZ) Observatory
Lick (CA) Observatory
McDonald (TX) Observatory
Oak Ridge (MA) Observatory
Palomar (CA) Observatory

E-mail Doug Mink to add your observatory to this list.

Times of the occultation have been tabulated for various cities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America and members of the International Occultation Timing Association.

References

The original prediction of this event was in the 1987 paper, Occultations of SAO Stars and IRAS Point Sources by Planets: 1988-1999, by Douglas J. Mink, presented as a poster talk at the 1987 meeting of the Division for Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society in Pasadena, California. The abstract is in the Bulletin of the American Astronomical Society volume 19, page 1150 (1987). This event can be found in tables of Occultations of SAO Stars by Jupiter at this Web site.

For a paper I worked on for, but did not present at, the 1994 AAS/DPS meeting, Occultations of Catalog Stars by Jupiter: 1994-2000, predictions of occultations of PPM Catalog stars, Hipparchos Input Catalog stars, Preliminary Tycho Catalog stars, IRAS Point Sources, and SAO Catalog stars were tabulated.

To see the importance of this event in perspective, check out 100 Years of Occultations: A Statistical View by Douglas J. Mink, presented at the 1995 meeting of the Division on Dynamical Astronomy of the American Astronomical Society in Yosemite National Park, in April 1995. For that presentation, occultations of PPM stars by Jupiter 1950-2050 were tabulated and plotted.
