Shuttle Bus
Shuttle bus transportation is available to Timberline from Portland
Airport (PDX). Phone Luxury Accomodations, +1-800-831-7433 to arrange
for pickup at the airport. Give them your arrival time and your flight
information, and they will attempt to form you into groups to minimize
the cost. The rate per person depends on the number of passengers going
(you don't have to be a pre-formed group, they will try to set up groups
to minimize costs to individuals):
Number traveling
|
Cost per person
|
---|
1 | $70 |
2 | $35 |
3 | $30 |
4 | $25 |
5 or more | $20 |
If you are arriving at a "normal" time (say between noon and 4 PM on
Sunday), and/or leaving at a "normal" time (departing from PDX late
afternoon or evening on Wednesday), odds are you can be merged into a
group of >4 and the cost will be only $20 each way. If you are arriving
or leaving at an odd time, it could be much more expensive.

Driving
If you have a ride or need a ride from the airport, let Al Harris know your
arrival and return times. He recommends using the shuttle service (Luxury
Accomodations, 800-831-7433). They will try to match you up with others
going at similar times to reduce the cost to less than renting a car.
But if you plan to rent a car and could take extra passengers, let me know,
and likewise if you would like to try for a shared rental car ride, let
me know your schedule. Reply to

NOTE: Right now (March 14), they have been getting about 10-15" of new
snow per day and driving may require 4WD or chains. By next month, the
roads may be better, or they may not. Be so advised if you are thinking
of driving yourself up to the lodge. Usually the roads are plowed and
sanded, so even if "chains are required" according to the State Police,
you can likely get by without them.
