2002 AAS/DDA meeting

Additional housing may be available in Government Camp (that's its name, it's actually a town, not a camp), about 5 miles away. You will need a car to get to and from the meeting, so it's no cost saving, but if it's the only option, it's better than a tent (in spite of the town's name).
You can view pictures of the rooms and read descriptions of the different categories at http://www.timberlinelodge.com/Lodge/rooms.asp.
Unfortunately, you can only make reservations by phone: 800-547-1406. When reserving, be sure to mention the group name, DDA (the full confirmation code of group is DDAMM/DDAII, in case the reservationist doesn't recognize DDA). The following rates are guaranteed for our group (weekend rates in parentheses), single or double occupancy, additional persons $25 each):
Twin (standard, 6) $100 ($125) Timberline (standard, 44) $100 ($170) Chalet (shared bath, 6) $75 ($75) Large Corner (2) $125 ($190) Fireplace (8) $140 ($200)The numbers in parentheses following the room name/description are the number of rooms available in that catagory. One night's deposit required to hold the reservation.
Our room block expires March 15! If you have not booked a room yet, do so immediately. As of March 14, only 7 regular rooms, 2 "Fireplace" rooms, and a few "Chalet" (dorm style) rooms remain. I expect the remaining rooms will go fast when they are released to the public.
If all rooms are taken, contact Al Harris ( Alan.W.Harris@jpl.nasa.gov) for listings of other accommodations in Government camp, about 5 miles down the road. Prices are about the same as the lodge and you'll need a car, but it's all that is available if the lodge sells out.
