DDA 2000 Travel Advisory

Attendees should carefully consider two special travel circumstances concerning the upcoming AAS Division on Dynamical Astronomy meeting in Yosemite:

First, our room block in Yosemite Valley does NOT include Saturday, April 8. You may try to get a room in the Valley on your own by contacting Mary Lynne Gonzales at the number on the room reservation form: (559) 253-5675. Alternatively, you may find a room among the many choices in the communities just outside the Park. Check room information on our website or through your travel agent.
Second, the most convenient location for a stay outside the Park is El Portal, a small community on Route 140 near the western or "Arch Rock" entrance to the Park. Unfortunately, the roadbed for Route 140 was seriously damaged in the great flood of 1997 and is still under repair. As a result, Route 140 is closed all day long (currently 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) making this approach to the park impractical for most of you. AVOID using this entrance. Again, consult your travel agent.

Remember that our first scientific session is Sunday afternoon, so you will want to stay in or near the Park Saturday night.
