Project BETA Telescope

This 84-foot steerable radio telescope in Harvard, Massachusetts was being used by Project BETA (Billion-channel ExtraTerrestrial Assay) in a search, funded by The Planetary Society, for radio signals sent by extraterrestrial intelligence. This successor to Project META (Million-channel ExtraTerrestrial Assay) began searching on October 30, 1995.

The telescope was badly damaged in a windstorm during the week of March 22, 1999.

The Radio Telescope is currently retired.
